We will be joined by Mary Shepler, R.N., Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer at EvergreenHealth. Based in Kirkland, Washington, EvergreenHealth was the first health system in the country to care for COVID-19 patients. This timely webinar will feature insights and lessons for managing the COVID-19 surge. The discussion, moderated by Valerie Fleishman, Senior Vice President and Chief Innovation Officer at MHA, will include strategies for surge planning, discharge management, and staff safety and wellbeing.

Mary Shepler, R.N., Senior Vice President, Chief Nursing Officer, EvergreenHealth
Mary Shepler is responsible for inpatient nursing areas, emergency services, and overall nursing practice for the entire EvergreenHealth system. Shepler joined EvergreenHealth in 2019 after 34 years with SCL Health in Colorado, where she began her healthcare career as a graduate registered nurse, and most recently served as V.P. of Patient Care Services/Chief Nursing Officer for SCL Health – St. Joseph Hospital in Denver. Shepler had direct accountability for providing strategic leadership for full-scale nursing and patient care services, driving significant improvements in patient satisfaction and nurse communication. She led the organization through its first American Association of Colleges of Nursing Magnet Designation in 2017, receiving 5 “Exemplar” ratings. Shepler earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the University of Northern Colorado and her master’s in Organizational Management from the University of Phoenix. She also holds a Nurse Executive–Advanced Certification (NEA-BC). She expects to complete a doctoral degree in Nursing Practice, Leadership with Capella University next year.
